Richard was born in Stone Mountain, Georgia in 1980. The son of a distracted construction worker and a devoted mother, his unexpected artistic nature emerged early when he began painting at the age of six. His first painting Circle, Square, and Triangle won him the first of many awards. He continued painting without training until he reached sixteen. Soon afterwards Richard was introduced to the theater where he sharpened his skills in set design and scenic painting - working on massive thirty foot backdrops- all the while performing on stage as well. After graduation he worked in Community Theater until moving to Athens, Georgia in 2000.
Richard then studied painting at the University of Georgia where he met his muse and model, the writer Memoree Joéllé, and after a romantic courtship they married. They moved to New York, where Richard cultivated his skills by copying paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and studying at the New York Academy of Art, where he earned a Masters of Fine Art in painting. He now works as a studio painter for Jeff Koons, as a portrait painter, scenic painter for theater, and exhibits his original compositions internationally.
Richard is a co-founder of and a contributor to Sustainable Art, a collaborative forum seeking creative ecological solutions in the practice of art making, and the collaborative art publication Art Babel.
